Civil Engineering insurance
Civil engineering insurance offers insurance protection for civil and other engineering structures such as streets and bridges. One has the option of including coverage for commercial and technical operating equipment as well as stock.
This provides all-risks coverage; in other words, it consists of insurance protection against all unforeseen damage to the insured installations, to the extent that their cause is not expressly excluded.
In particular, insurance coverage is provided for the following:
- Operating errors, ineptitude, negligence and malice
- Consequential damages due to errors caused by construction, materials or execution
- Failure of measurement, control or safety devices
- Storms, flooding, frost or drifting ice (but not erosion)
- Fire, lightning, explosions
- Land subsidence, earthquakes
- Theft (optional)
- Internal unrest, strikes and lock-outs (optional)
The significant exclusions are:
- Intent of the policyholder
- War or events similar to war
- Force majeure
- Nuclear energy
- Erosion and natural deterioration
